Rosies of the North is an oral history website dedicated to telling the stories of factory women of the Lakehead who worked at Canadian Car & Foundry Company during the Second World War. Interviews, photographs, film clips and more are available for free public access on www.rosiesofthenorth.ca!
The project is based on Kelly Saxberg’s “Rosies of the North” National CBC radio broadcast and National Film Board film production. These productions only used a fraction of the oral history and archival that was gathered during the 1997-1999 research phase. The purpose of this website is to bring these incredible interviews, photographs, letters, and other archival materials back to life! Funded by the Thunder Bay Community Foundation and Friends of the Finnish Labour Temple.
